VET in Schools

Designed for VCE/VCAL students, this program is intended to open up opportunities in the exciting field of aviation. Students attend theory classes on Wednesdays and continue their practical flying on the weekends.

Course details:

  • RPL (Recreational Pilot Licence) and First Solo Navigation.
  • Study units 3 & 4.
  • Option to study for 6 months after school year 12 to complete AVI50215 Diploma of Aviation (Commercial Pilot Licence - Aeroplane).
  • Option to undertake AVI50415 Diploma of Aviation (Instrument Rating).
  • This course combines both classroom based ground theory and practical flight training.
  • An ideal early opportunity to experience what it's like to have a career in aviation.
  • Contributes to VCE/VCAL.
  • Possible to add to ATAR.
  • Pathway into a Higher Education course.

VET in Schools Scholarships:

To be eligible for the VETis scholarship the following criteria must be met: 

  • Applicants need to be enrolled in the VETis 2018 course.
  • Applicants must have completed the enrolment form and paid their enrolment fee by the end of November, 2017.
  • Applicants must write a 500 word essay explaining why they should be awarded this scholarship.
  • We encourage applicants to include any other information that will help support their application. This can include:              
    • Reference letters from employers, education providers, schools or sporting clubs. 
    • Personal achievement awards or recognitions (e.g. sporting, leadership or employment).     
    • Any aviation experience or qualifications (it is not essential that applicants have aviation experience to be awarded this scholarship).           
    • Any other supporting material that may be relevant to the application.

  • Successful applicants will be notified by the end of March, 2018.
