Meet and speak to women Airline pilots (Qantas & Virgin Airlines), Air Traffic Controllers, Firefighters and Cabin Crew (Virgin Airlines) on the day.
Moorabbin Flying Services in conjunction with the Australian Women Pilot’s Association is dedicated to supporting a higher representation of women in the aviation industry.
This is mainly intended for teenaged girls in middle-late secondary school (although it is open to all ages) who are looking at a career in aviation. If you have a keen interest in learning more about a career as a pilot, cabin crew member, air traffic controller or aviation fire fighter we would like to welcome you to our inaugural “Aviation for Women” conference.
The day will provide an opportunity to speak with women working in the various fields within the industry and to take part in a range of activities designed to for you to experience and discover what it’s like to be part of the exciting field.

Meeting the following speakers.
Anna Mackintosh is a B737 First Officer at Virgin Australia Airlines. Anna spent three years on the B777 before accepting a promotion as First Officer on the B737, which she has been flying for the last four and a half years. Additional to her flying duties, Anna is a passionate Non Technical Skills (CRM) advocate, and is involved in training crew in these skills as well as assisting in writing course material both for flight and cabin crew new to the airline, and for existing crew in their annual recurrency courses.
Cath Tomlinson Started in aviation in 2001 and has been a flight instructor, charter pilot, joined Qantas as a second officer on a B747 -400 and is now a First Officer of a B737.
Nicholle Sullivan is a career air traffic controller, and currently an instructor for the Air Traffic Services School.
Adrian Webb has a long career as an aviation rescue fire fighter. He is currently a Relationship & Standards Specialist, Aviation Rescue Fire Fighting School.
Allanah Parker has experience as a pilot, air traffic controller and member of the New Zealand Air Force. She is currently an Operational Training Specialist ATS school.
Gemma Alpert became a cabin crew at Virgin Australia in February 2015.As cabin crew with Virgin Australia, Gemma has travelled to every major city in Australia and to international short haul destinations, Bali and Fiji. Gemma aspires to fly to international long haul destinations such as Los Angeles and Abu Dhabi as the next step in her career as cabin crew.

This three day program is a priceless opportunity when considering becoming a pilot and is ideal for those interested in qualifying as a private pilot or going onto a career with an airline. This program gives you the chance to: meet people in the industry, flying one of a modern aircraft twice under instruction, gain some time in our, CASA approved, simulator, explore the facilities of Moorabbin Airport and undertake some basic theory. All these activities are designed so you can make an informed decision about becoming a pilot and for those who are serious about choosing aviation as a career this is one of the best opportunities to find out about the exciting world of a commercial pilot.
Vet in Schools
An exciting new program set to start in 2016.
For year 10/11 students this program is intended to open up the opportunity for senior secondary students entering into the exciting field of aviation. Get a hands-on understanding of piloting a aircraft, working through the ground theory with like-minded students and better understanding of the aviation industry both now and into the future.
This program will be delivered at our airport location. Students will attend the theory component on Wednesdays and we suggest they continue their practical flying on the weekends at Moorabbin.
VET in Schools Aviation course. For students commencing VCE and wish to start their flight training as part of their VCE studies. This program is available at Moorabbin Airport. Please go to our Vet in Schools page for further details.

The longest running (now in its 20th year) and highly regarded “Sharp Airlines First Officer Cadet Program will help you realize all of these things in around 14 months. Upon graduation from the training you will be employed on a 9 month contract as a First Officer with Sharp Airlines. You will be fully remunerated during your contract period as per the Air Pilots Award.
New cadets commence training at MFS undertaking the AVI40108 Certificate IV in Aviation (Commercial Pilot Aeroplane Licence) and AVI50408 Diploma of Aviation (Instrument Flight Operations) at our Moorabbin Airport Campus over a 14 month period. During your training you will complete a multi-engine commercial pilot licence, night rating, command instrument rating, be involved a number of industry relevant activities and spend time at one of Sharp Airlines offices in either Tasmania or Victoria. Cadets finalise their training by completing a Metroliner turbo prop endorsement, Multi Crew Co-operation and a number of the key ATPL subjects.
