MFS is calling for Expressions of Interest for the 2018 Cadetship Program for Skippers Aviation based in Western Australia.

  • 20–22 month course. 
  • PPL, MECPL, MECIR, MCC, ATPLs, Dash 8 or Brasilia Type Rating.
  • 2 year employment (subject to successful completion).
  • Applications accepted all year round. 
  • Does not attract Government financial assistance such as VET Fee Help/HECS. 
  • Aviation experience is not required for this program. 
  • Expected cost $175,000.

Sharp Cadetship

Applications for the 2018 Sharp Airline Cadetship are open.
Interviews will be held in early June, 2017!

Now in its 20th year, MFS together with Sharp Airlines offer the most complete hands-on Cadetship program in Australia. The highly professional instructing team ensure that MFS cadets receive the highest level of training, mentoring and pastoral care at all times during their training.

  • 18–20 month course.
  • PPL, MECPL, MECIR, MCC, ATPLs, Metroliner endorsement.
  • 9 month contract as a First Officer (subject to successful completion).
  • Full remuneration during the contract period as per the Air Pilots Award.
  • Involvement in a number of industry relevant activities that include time spent at Sharp Airlines in Tasmania or Victoria.

Multi Crew Co-operation Course

We offer a CASA Approved MCC course in the state of the art B737 simulator. This MCC course includes both classroom theory and simulator time. Our expert MCC instructors have many years of experience in this field and are dedicated to give you the most realistic and informative MCC course experience possible. Our MCC is widely recognised for its excellence in the Commercial Aviation industry. All applicants are required to have passed ATPL HUF. AVI50215 Diploma of Aviation (CPL – Aeroplane)

MFS offer students the opportunity to undertake the AVI50215 Diploma of Aviation (CPL-Aeroplane). This is a full-time and highly structured course. It gives students the opportunity to study and fly with their colleagues which helps to create a supportive environment of professional camaraderie. This course offers students the best possible footing to launch their career into the exciting world of Aviation.

  • AVI50215 Diploma of Aviation (CPL-Aeroplane), MECPL, Night Rating.
  • Full-time course (18 months plus breaks). 
  • Possible to accelerate this course and complete it in 30 weeks with a 3 week break.

AVI50415 Diploma of Aviation (Instrument Rating)

The Instrument Rating is one of the most challenging ratings a pilot will undertake in their flying career. It demands concentration, focus and precision every minute of every flight. While it’s possible to do the Instrument Rating in a single engine aeroplane, it has little value for pilots wishing to fly commercially as most employers are looking for the Multi Engine Instrument Rating. 

  • Conducted in multi-engine Piper Seminole aeroplane type.
  • Goods and Services Tax (GST) free. 
  • Usually taken by students that have completed AVI40108 Cert. IV in Aviation (CPL-Aeroplane) or AVI50215 Diploma of Aviation (CPL–Aeroplane).
  • Does not attract Government financial assistance such as VET Fee Help/HECS.

VET in schools

Designed for VCE/VCAL students, this program is intended to open up opportunities in the exciting field of aviation. Students attend theory classes on Wednesdays and continue their practical flying on the weekends.

  • PPL and Twin Endorsement.
  • Option to study for 3 months after school year 12 to complete AVI50215 Diploma of Aviation (CPL-Aeroplane).
  • Option to undertake AVI50415 Diploma of Aviation (Instrument Rating).
  • An ideal early opportunity to experience what it's like to have a career in aviation.
  • Contributes to VCE/VCAL.
  • Possible to add to ATAR.
  • Pathway into a Higher Education course.
  • Scholarships are available for this program.

Flight Instructor Rating

As one of the most trusted positions in the industry Flight Instructors have a very important job in aviation. Flight instructors teach students how to fly using a variety of methods that include textbooks, simulators and practical flight training. Flight Instructors help students gain a thorough understanding of each flight lesson prior to taking to the air and also help prepare the student for the written tests which they can expect to face when applying for their pilot licence.

  • Goods and Services Tax (GST) free. 
  • Courses run throughout the year.
  • Potential for employment as an instructor at MFS upon completion.

Commercial Pilot Licence

The 200 Hour CPL non-integrated course. This is an ideal course for students wishing to complete their qualification but are unable to attend a structured program.

  • 200 hours of flying experience is required at completion (minimum 100 hours pilot in command and 10 hours instrument time). 
  • Potential to complete in an ad-hoc manner with no specific course of training or instruction. 
  • Students are required to pass the 7 CPL theory examinations in their own time.
  • Exam fees are not included in program cost.
  • Does not attract any Government financial assistance, such as VET Fee Help/HECS). 
  • This course attracts the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

Private Pilot Licence

MFS have been training pilots to the Private Pilot Licence (PPL) for over 24 years. A PPL provides the freedom to fly to around Australia with passengers weather it's for pleasure or for business.

  • Study full time or part time.
  • Current model Piper training aeroplanes with analogue or glass cockpit.
  • To achieve a PPL students must pass the PPL training program which includes both practical flight training and flight theory subjects as specified by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority Part 61 Manual of Standards.
  • Exam fees are not included in program cost.

BAK Theory course

The Basic Aeronautical Knowledge (BAK) course takes students through the theory required for the early stages of flight training. At the end of this course students are ready to sit the pre-solo, pre-area solo and the basic aeronautical knowledge exams. 

  • Study the entire course or individual units.
  • Cost includes all briefs and handouts. 
  • Exam fees are not included in program cost.
  • The BAK workbooks are at an additional cost and can be purchased from the MFS reception.

PPL Theory course

This course prepares students for the Private Pilot Licence (Aeroplane) in accordance with Civil Aviation Safety Authority Part 61 Manual of Standards. Students gain thorough knowledge in flight planning, navigation, meteorology, aerodynamics, aircraft general knowledge and human factors.

  • Study the entire course or individual units.
  • Cost includes all briefs and handouts. 
  • CASA PPL exam is accessible at MFS.
  • Exam fees are not included in program cost.
